Memphis comes to Louisville this weekend

PNC Broadway in Louisville presents Memphis

Forbidden love during the 1950s rock-n-roll revolution takes shape in Memphis, which PNC Broadway in Louisville will present beginning Tuesday.

Memphis performances will take place on Apr. 2, 3, and 4 at 7:30 p.m. each night, Apr. 5 at 8 p.m., Apr. 6 at 2 and 8 p.m., and Apr. 7 at 1 and 6:30 p.m.  All performances are to happen in Whitney Hall, located inside the Kentucky Center for the Arts at 501 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.

Tickets for each show range in price from $25 to $79 per person, depending on the seat.  All tickets can be purchased at the Kentucky Center box office, the Kentucky Center website, or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777.

Memphis is a musical that brings the rock-n-roll exuberance, soul, energy, and sometimes innocence of the 1950s to the stage.  Enjoy these rockin' sounds while also seeing a story of forbidden love between a black soul singer and a white up-and-coming DJ.  Despite warnings from others privy to the situation, the two continue their love, for better and for worse.

Joe DiPietro and Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan created Memphis, which went to Broadway in 2009 and stayed for more than 1,100 performances.  The Broadway production earned four Tony Awards in 2010, including the Best Musical trophy.

More information on the show can be found at the Kentucky Center or PNC Broadway in Louisville websites.
