I was reminiscing last night. Remembering happy moments. These happy moments were just a few months ago; this strikes me as somewhat funny, because one normally “fondly reminisces” about events further back, say, several years ago. A few months is still fresh. A lot of formerly good memories of a similar base emotional nature are currently tainted, however, and that's been weird to figure out – what does one do about a fantastic moment several years ago with a special someone who is no longer special to you, for all sorts of dramatic reasons? This is a tangent. Listen: what is the happiest moment in your life? Can you identify it? How does one quantify it? I couldn't tell you. Happiness doesn't necessarily come in “moments” so much; rather, happiness is more of an over-arching emotional state. Are you happy? I'm happy. Things are going very well for me, and I've never felt better about where I'm going and what I'm doing about it. Current life: success. This has been another tangent.
Listen: the point is a midnight movie to be screened by Baxter Avenue Theater tomorrow, Saturday. The film? Brain Candy, produced and created by the classic Canadian comedy group The Kids in the Hall, featuring Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. These five men play just about every character in the film, which tells the story of a new anti-depressant, GLeeMONEX, produced by the pharmaceutical company Roritor. GLeeMONEX causes the user to relive the happiest moment of their life – but with hilariously disastrous side effects.
Baxter Avenue Theater is located at 1250 Bardstown Road. Further theater information and showtimes can be found at the Baxter Avenue Theater website.
