The Coors Light Summer Concert Series at Iroquois Amphitheater hosts chart-topping band The National this Friday night at 8:00. If you've never taken in a show at the Amphitheater, you'll find that it's a comfortable open-air venue with a good bit of covered seating if you're concerned about the weather. The double bill that includes opener Frightened Rabbit, an indie rock band out of Glasgow, Scotland, promises to be a great way to hold on to those last days of summer.

No longer struggling in indie obscurity, The National is touring behind its latest release, Trouble Will Find Me, the follow-up to the hugely successful 2010 album, High Violet. The band members all hail from Cincinnati, though they've been based in Brooklyn for several years. Lead singer Matt Berninger, with his distinctively deep baritone, is backed up by two pairs of brothers, guitarists Aaron and Bryce Dessner, and Scott and Bryan Devendorf on bass and drums. Their music is marked by a brooding intensity, literate lyrics, fine musicianship, and of course, the front man's mesmerizing voice.

The Iroquois Amphitheater is located at 1080 Amphitheater Road at Iroquois Park. Tickets for the event are $36, available from TicketFly. Several shows on this tour have sold out, so you might not want to wait and get them at the gate, which opens at 6:30 on the day of the show.
