The NEW Lite 106.9/WVEZ is bringing a personality from Louisville radio history back to the air this weekend.
As part of the station’s continued success with their 1980’s-themed REWIND WEEKENDS that were launched July 1st, Cox Media Group Louisville’s Mike Shannon will resume his “Wild One” persona first created in the 1980’s and popularized on 99.7 WDJX in 1991. Shannon will put on the headphones and crack the mic Saturday nights from 7PM until midnight. “The Wild One Rewind” promises to include Shannon’s trademark interaction and wit that made him a top-rated local personality over the last few decades.
“I’m excited to play the 80’s again! There is nobody playing these songs in Louisville right now,” says Shannon.
“Rewind Weekends aren’t just about rewinding the music,” adds Lite 106.9 Operations Manager Shane Collins. “We want to rewind to a fun time and make it uniquely ‘Louisville. ’ Resurrecting the ‘Wild One’ seems like the perfect way to do that. ”
