Occupy Your Upper Lip
Print this page

Last fall's elections left elementary school valedictorian turned noted grifter Richie Farmer without a job.

Farmer, best known for not winning both an NCAA championship and the lieutenant governorship in historic fashion, filed for unemployment after his $110,346-a-year stint as Commissioner of Agriculture ended in January. After all, the man has an unemployed ladyfriend to treat all nice.

Yet it's likely Farmer's application for $415 in weekly unemployment benefits will be denied. According to the Courier-Journal, "Kentucky unemployment compensation law lists 'a public elected official' among the types of employment not eligible for benefits.

To show support for Farmer, I've launched the Occupy Your Upper Lip movement. No shaving your mustache until Farmer is where he belongs—at the government's version of the free throw line.

For Kentuckians who want to take their protest a step further: call the Kentucky Department of Agriculture at 502-564-4696 and ask, "Is Reechie gonna get paid?"
