As soon as Old Crow Medicine Show hit the main stage at 8:00 PM on Friday, the opening day of the three-day Forecastle Music Festival, fans practically ran toward the stage. By the way the crowds were getting down to their hit songs like “Mary’s Kitchen” and “CC Rider,” one could tell they were loving the American String Band’s sound. Old Crow Medicine Show was eager to let Kentuckiana know how happy they were to be here playing at Forecastle. “I wanna blow a little on the banks of the Ohio” they let out, right before erupting into their hit song “Mississippi Saturday Night.” They even let off a little steam on stage by dancing a jig and having mini jam sessions between songs.

When they started singing Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land” the crowd did not hesitate to sing along to one of the most famous American folk songs ever. This was a chance for audience members who weren’t familiar with all of Old Crow Medicine Show’s music to sing along for a song. Of course they did not disappoint the audience, and when they finally played “Wagon Wheel” the song many audience members had been waiting to hear, everyone was up on their feet singing along to their hit song.

Old Crow Medicine Show was happy to be back in Kentucky singing the music they love. The crowd loved it, from the many people sporting their Old Crow Medicine Show bags and T-Shirts, to some people hearing them for the first time. They were definitely one of the higher energy bands that performed at Forecastle.
