One event should make Teddy Bridgewater a top draft pick

On Tuesday’s Good Morning America broadcast (shown locally on WHAS-11), former University of Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater did something that proves one of the intangibles that football executives say they want.

Bridgewater made a promise to his mother Rose Murphy when he was a third grader. He said that when he made it to the NFL, he would buy her a pink Cadillac. On the broadcast, the world got to see that Bridewater’s commitment came to fruition as he presented his mother with a pink Cadillac Escalade as a birthday present. Spike Lee made a short film of the event called "A Promise 2 Rose." See that film below.

If coaches are looking for a player that can be the most tenacious and most determined football player on the field, look no further. Plus whatever team drafts Bridgewater on Thursday gets a man with tremendous football IQ, a rocket arm and the ability to play at the professional level from his first day in camp.

Some of the so-called experts have dropped him on their mock drafts based on the size of his hands and the fact that he’s not as heavy as other QBs but his former coach Charlie Strong, now at Texas, says it would be a “terrible mistake” if Bridgewater is not drafted in the first round.

But Bridgewater many not be the only Cardinal first rounder. The draft big boards are also talking up the value of safety Calvn Pryor. His closing speed and hard hitting and precise tackling ability has teams like the Philadelphia Eagles hoping he’s available by the time they get to make their pick. Pryor will be in New York City with Bridgewater for the broadcast of the first round.

The middle rounds could see run stopping linebacker Preston Brown and defensive end Marcus Smith joining teams looking to shore up their defenses with solid bowl winning athletes. The later rounds should see safety Hakeem Smith and receiver Damian Copeland chosen as well.
