Don’t know about you, but we could really use a drink right about now. So we’ve scoured the city to find our 21 favorite bars — from upscale jazz joints to dives where your beer bottle sticks to the table. We’ve also tossed in some personalities familiar with local nightlife and quotes we overheard while out on the town.
Everybody knows about the Connection. An alternative “alternative” bar, Starbase Q (921 W. Main St.) is tucked beneath the streetlights on East Main Street, in a 150-year-old tobacco warehouse next to the Ninth Street overpass. Its industrial-chic interior greets visitors with an inviting horseshoe-shaped bar and a small karaoke stage in one corner. But venture deeper into the club and you’ll find a huge dance floor and lounge, another smaller dance floor, and a newly renovated showroom, where drag shows take place on weekends.

Starbase Q is the best gay bar in Louisville
I don't go out very often, but when I do I go to Q. Casey, Travis, and the rest of the guys at Starbase Q are amazing, Casey in particular is probably the most friendly and knowledgable bartender in Louisville. Q has great events going on all of the time and they always have been welcoming for many different types of groups. The only bad part about Q is the really drunk owner who always seems to be lurking around.
Ouch
Thank you for the kind compliments about me and the bar, but I was a little bothered about your comment about our owner. Without him, there would be no Q, no parties, no one to write checks to charities, etc. Take it easy on the guy, he works really hard on his dream, and if he wants to knock back a few, so be it. If you have a problem with it, man up and talk to us face-to-face, instead of hiding behind the internet.
