Soon you won’t have to drive to Cincinnati or Indianapolis to get your outlet shopping on. The Outlet Shoppe of the Bluegrass are coming to Kentucky, and they’re about 25 minutes from downtown Louisville, in Simpsonville.
The Outlet Shoppes have been fully leased at this time, which means there will be no empty stores when they have their grand opening, on July 31. A few stores (three or four, according the marketing director) may not be open by July 31, but the vast majority of the stores will be ready for shoppers at the grand opening. Anywhere from 20 to 40 thousand people are expected to show up on opening weekend.
The Outlet Shoppes are open-air with outdoor, mostly-covered walkways. A central “living room” located next to the food court will have a gas fireplace and a patio. The food court will include Chicken Now, China Max, Little Italy and Taqueria Tsunami.
Many amenities will be available; stroller rental, free wheelchairs, $5 coupon books (with all proceeds from coupon books going to the Brain and Behavioral Research Foundation), an area for nursing mothers, a children’s play area, plenty of parking and much more.
Retailers located at the Outlet Shoppes will include upscale brands like Kate Spade and Vera Bradley. The Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass will be one of only seven shopping centers in America to have a Gucci store.
There will be a special Grand Opening event on July 30 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. with all proceeds going to benefit the James Brown Cancer Center. More information can be found, and tickets can be purchased at shopforacure.org.
