Saturday,  April 2 – Amphibian Awareness Day featuring “Frog and Toad”
(11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Zoo keepers will discuss the world of amphibians, which today face serious challenges affecting their very existence.  Guests will also have the chance to meet and greet “Frog and Toad” from the book Frog and Toad are Friends, by Arnold Lobel.
 
Saturday, April 2 – Zoo Poopy Doo Compost and Mulch Sale
(7:30  to 11 a.m.)
You can purchase quality hardwood bark mulch and Zoo Poopy Doo, a rich compost mixture comprised of Zoo hoof stock manure (like elephant, rhino, camel and giraffe), hay, straw and wood shavings. Sunday,  April 3 – Eco-activities and Animals
(Eco-Cell and Louisville Nature Center)
Recycle and Save - Bring an old cell phone to the Zoo front gate and receive $2 off Zoo admission on Sundays only in April during Earth Month. Eco-Cell, our cell phone recycling partner, will make a donation to the Zoo’s conservation efforts for every cell phone we receive.
 
Also, join the Louisville Nature Center on the Zoo’s front plaza and learn about the native flora and fauna of our area from 1 to 4 p.m. plus close encounters with Meta Zoo Education Animals from 1 to 3 p.m.
 
Saturday, April 9  – Primate Awareness Day featuring Curious George 
(11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
The zoo’s animal experts will be on hand with information about gorillas, orangutans, siamangs, woolly monkeys and more.  Keeper presentations and animal enrichment activities are included.  Then a meet and greet with everyone’s favorite primate, “Curious George.”

Saturday, April 16 –Crocodilian Awareness Day featuring Lyle Lyle Crocodile
(11 a.m. to 3 p.m.)
Zookeepers will provide some insight into the lives and behaviors of these powerful predators during presentations scheduled throughout the day.  Then meet and greet the loveable title character from the bookLyle, Lyle, Crocodile.

Saturday, April 23 – Earth Day Festival (Eco-partner displays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)Special admission is just $2 per person all day, courtesy of LG&E and KU.
 
The Zoo’s conservation efforts will be highlighted and environmental displays by some of the Zoo’s eco-partners will be set up throughout the Zoo’s campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Also, a new city-wide environmental initiative will be debuted.
