Perfect gift ideas for avoiding Christmas catastrophes

You’ve got less than two weeks to go.  All the easy gifts have been bought.

The only people left on your list are The Ones.

You know, those folks who have everything. Who go out and buy what they want. Or who you just can’t seem to make happy.

It’s time to think outside the box.

These hard-to-please peeps may have everything, but they sure haven’t done everything.

And that’s where the awesomeness of Louisville comes in.

Put back the scalp massager and return the slippers. Don’t give your dear relative another Goodwill contribution, give them an experience. Louisville is full of local businesses that have plenty to offer.

For the Golden-Years Crowd:

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons are coming to the Kentucky Center. You may not have heard of them, but your momma sure has. The 1960’s group sang rock-out singles like “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Working my Way Back to You.” Tickets start at $45 and are onsale now for the March 8 concert.

The Louisville Orchestra is back, and they have more offerings than you could imagine, including several performance series, including Classics & Coffee and the more modern and casual Pops. They also have adult education programs in their Magic of Music series which include guest artists and lunch. The Magic of Music luncheons are $25 each. 502-587-8681.

For the Adventurous Souls:

Check out Rocksport, a 10,000 square foot indoor rock climbing facility. Novice and experienced climbers alike can take advantage of a variety of walls and caves. Day passes are available for $12 for experienced climbers who have their own equipment. For first-timers, Rocksport offers a daily class, including equipment, for $35. After the class, participants are free to climb at their own pace. Youth programs are also available. Hop online or call 502-266-5833 for gift certificate information.

Got a music lover? Give the gift that keeps on giving. Louisville Guitar Center on Shelbyville Road offers lessons in guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and voice. Four private, half-hour lessons are $95, or get four private hour-long lessons for $190. Until December 24th, the $30 registration fee is waived. (502) 891-4187.

The Louisville Ballet School offers classes ranging from hip-hop and Zumba to tap and ballet for kids and the young-at-heart. Their Adult Open Division allows you to purchase a class card (4 classes for $55 or 10 classes for $130) that allows your gift recipient to attend any class whenever they wish.
