Not everyone likes to wake up early on the weekend. For those late sleepers, the Saturday morning farmers' markets don't work. The Phoenix Hill NuLu Farmers' Market is a great alternative and the perfect opportunity to pick up your fresh produce and meat without having to sacrifice precious sleep.
The Phoenix Hill NuLu Farmers' Market is open on Tuesday afternoons from 3PM-6:30PM. Formerly located at the Felice Vineyards on Market Street, the new location behind Fresh Start is spacious and convenient. The market is small but includes a variety of vendors including produce, meat, baked goods, packaged goods and more! There is a even a food truck set up offering delicious local snacks. The market offers free on site parking and is much less crowded than many of the Saturday ones. You can meet and talk with the farmers without feeling rushed because you have six people behind you in line.
Barr Farms, Misty Meadows Farm, Groce Family Farm. Full Heart Farm, Fresh Start and Weisenberger Mill are just some of the vendors you'll find.
Last week I picked up biscuit and muffin mixes, juicy heirloom tomatoes, salad mix and a lavender plant. This past week I bought peaches, baby zucchini and homemade granola bars.
Upcoming events include the Farmers' Festival on July 31, a Chili Cookoff on September 11, and an Apple Cider Festival on October 9. The market accepts the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program Checks and most of the farmers accept EBT payments.
The Phoenix Hill NuLu Farmers' Market is located at 1007 East Jefferson on the corner of Jefferson and Baxter. The market runs through the end of October.
I'm always greeted by friendly faces and I always leave with great products. I recommend visiting this farmer's market and help foster the growth of local businesses and local food.
