For the Big Blue faithful unable to make the trip to New Orleans, the University of Kentucky planned a top-notch welcome home party for the the 2012 NCAA Basketball Champions. Students and fans were offered free admission to this event, the capstone to an unbelievable season for the Wildcats.
Head Coach John Calipari said, "you all are crazy, and I love it"! Senior Darius Miller took the podium with the game net draped from his neck amid the many decorative beads rightfully earned in New Orleans. Another banner now hangs in Rupp, the eighth championship banner for the University.
This team brought back the hardware to Lexington to sit next to the Division Championship trophy earned in 2011. After 14 years of trials and reloading the roster, The University of Kentucky proudly sits as the king of basketball royalty.
