LOUISVILLE, Ky. – More than 150 local community leaders and domestic violence advocates gathered on March 17 at The Clifton Center for a special VIP reception and performance of Cheap Sunglasses, a play about domestic violence. In addition to underwriting the VIP performance and reception, Verizon Wireless also sponsored the play’s production for Kentucky high schools and colleges. Approximately 1,500 11th- and 12th-graders from Lexington and Louisville high schools and college students from the University of Louisville attended Cheap Sunglasses at various performances held in March. During the special performance on March 17, guests had the opportunity to make a donation to the University of Kentucky's Center for Research on Violence Against Women. For each dollar raised for the Center, Verizon Wireless contributed a dollar to one of three Kentucky domestic violence agencies, including the Center for Women and Families in Louisville.
