What does your child say he wants to be when she grows up? Is it teacher? Doctor? Veterinarian? Possibly astronaut? Perhaps they will be even more inspired by Awesome Allie: First Kid Astronaut, which opened May 25 and is in a six week run in Derby Dinner Playhouse’s Children’s Musical Theater series. Under the direction of Matt Wallace, the musical includes a brilliant cast: Carly Stotts as Allie, along with Sandra Rivera, Kiersten Vorheis, Scott Anthony, Cody King, and Bill Hanna.
Audience members will be whisked away to outer space along with Allie and her dog, Captain Chaos. She’ll be on a grand mission of saving Earth, learning a little bit of science along her way, but in order to stay out of trouble, she better be home in time for dinner! This show will delight young and old alike; it is most suitable for children ages 3-11 years.
I had the privilege of taking my daughter on a special trip to Derby Dinner to see A Year with Frog and Toad and we both absolutely enjoyed ourselves on our girl’s date at the theater. There are two types of children’s theatre shows. Breakfast shows start with a buffet at 9am with the show beginning at 10am. Lunch shows start with a buffet at 12pm with the show beginning at 1:15pm.
Tickets for Awesome Allie: First Kid Astronaut can be purchased here, or by calling the Derby Dinner Playhouse at 812-288-8281. Public performances of this show continue June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. The Derby Dinner Playhouse is located in Clarksville, IN at 525 Marriott Drive. Stay up to date with the entire season on the Derby Dinner Playhouse Facebook page or Twitter account.
