Loads of entertainment from the traditional to the contemporary are to take place during the 2013 summer season for Stephen Foster Productions.

During its season, Stephen Foster Productions will present its annual musical The Stephen Foster Story (June-Aug.) alongside the contemporary show Shrek: The Musical (July-Aug.).  The Stephen Foster Productions season will also include five Budweiser Live in the Park Concert Series performances. All performances will happen inside My Old Kentucky Home State Park in Bardstown, KY.

Stephen Foster Productions opens its season with the traditional musical The Stephen Foster Story.  Now in its 54th season, this musical chronicles the life and struggles of songwriter Stephen Foster, the creator of My Old Kentucky Home, Oh Susanna, Beautiful Dreamer, Camptown Races, and other classics still being performed more than 150 years after they were created.  The Stephen Foster Story will run on various days from June 8-Aug. 10.

During The Stephen Foster Story's run, the contemporary musical Shrek: The Musical will take place.  That big, green, smelly but lovable ogre from the movie series comes to the stage alongside a donkey that won't stop talking, a donkey that doesn't shut up, a gingerbread cookie who means business, and a princess who is not amused with being rescued by a smelly ogre.  Shrek: The Musical will take place from July 6-Aug. 8.

Also running this summer is the Budweiser Live in the Park Concert Series, which will feature popular country artists (Jana Kramer and John Michael Montgomery), regional favorites (The Monarchs and The Devonshires), and tribute bands (Yesterday: Live From Las Vegas and Credence Revived) Montgomery kicks the series off on June 17, Yesterday, a Beatles tribute, performs on July 15, ACM New Female Artist of the Year Jana Kramer comes in on July 29, The Monarchs and The Devonshires perform together on Aug. 12, and Credence Revived complete the series on Aug. 24.
