Preview: A Year with Frog and Toad at Derby Dinner Playhouse
Print this page

Oh, the beloved Frog and Toad. How I love this classic early reader series that I read as a child and handed to my own when she was learning how to read. In my experience as a children’s librarian, Arnold Lobel’s books do not sit on the shelf for very long. The first of the series, Frog and Toad Are Friends, won Lobel the Caldecott Honor in 1971 for his illustrations. In 2012, it was also placed on the “Top 100 Picture Books” of all time by School Library Journal. The books are continuously checked out, requested, and placed on dozens of patron’s waiting lists for their 5 year-olds. It is just one of those series that has stood the test of time and is why these books are placed on classic children’s literature lists universally.

Do you have a preschooler or kindergartener who loves these books? Would you be interested in seeing A Year with Frog and Toad come to life on stage? Then you do not want to miss out on the first show of this Tony Award-nominated musical performed by Children’s Musical Theater at Derby Dinner Playhouse.

A Year with Frog and Toad opens this Saturday, February 23. It will run every Saturday until March 30. There are two types of children’s theatre shows: Breakfast shows start with a buffet at 9am with the show beginning at 10am. Lunch shows start with a buffet at 12pm with the show beginning at 1:15pm.

Tickets can be purchased here, or by calling the Derby Dinner Playhouse at 812-288-8281. The Derby Dinner Playhouse is located in Clarksville, IN at 525 Marriott Drive. Stay up to date with the entire season on the Derby Dinner Playhouse Facebook page or Twitter account.
