Life, love, death, and a peculiar affinity toward horses are to be explored in the upcoming season for Indiana University Southeast.

IUS's theatre department will present three plays for its upcoming season, including Our Town (November), Equus (February-March 2011) and Night, Mother (March-April 2011). All shows will take place in the Robinson Theater at Ogle Center, located on the IUS campus. The IUS address is 4201 Grant Line Road in New Albany, IN.

Tickets are $12 per show for adults and $6 per show for students, senior citizens, and IUS employees. When made available, tickets can be purchased at the Ogle Center ticket office, Ticketmaster locations, online at Ticketmaster.com, or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

Our Town, to be directed by Jim Hesselman, will open IUS's 2010-2011 season. The production, created by Thornton Wilder, is in three acts during the early 20th century in the fictional Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. Each act shows a different stage of relationship between George Gibbs and Lucy Webb, including their meeting, falling in love, and tragedy.

Auditions for this production will take place in September with roles available for 17 males, seven females, and extras. The production will run from November 5-14 in the Robinson Theater.

Following in February and March 2011 will be Equus, which will be directed by Hesselman. The Peter Shaffer-penned production features a psychiatrist working with a young patient, who has developed a sexual attraction of horses. Throughout the play, themes of religion, upbringing, and life values are explored.

The production was on Broadway from 1974-1977 and featured Anthony Hopkins as Martin Dysart, the psychatrist. Perhaps the most famous version of Equus came years later in a London production, as Daniel Radcliffe, of Harry Potter fame, who performed a nude scene while portraying the patient, Alan.

The production will run from February 25-March 6 in the Robinson Theater. The production is for mature audiences only, due to the subject matter.

Night, Mother, taking place in March and April 2011, will end the IUS theater season. This Marsha Norman-created work features a widowed mother and divorced daughter, who are living together with Jessie. Jessie deals with issues, physical and otherwise, after her husband leaves and her son takes the wrong life path.

Night, Mother went to Broadway twice, in 1983-84 and 2004-2005, and earned Norman a Pulitzer Prize. The IUS production is slated to be performed from March 31-April 3,2011 in the Robinson Theater.

All dates and times for shows may be subject to change. For more information on the plays and tickets, go to the IUS theatre department website.
