What To Do

Registration now open for the brand-new 48 Hour Music Video Project [Movies]

Earlier this year Village 8 Theaters hosted screenings for the annual 48 Hour Film Project. It's an intense challenge for local filmmakers: movie-making teams were given exactly two days to write, shoot, edit, and score an original film. In addition, every year there is provided a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue which must be included in each film. All reports indicate that it is quite a challenge, but a lot of fun for those involved.

Thus, it is natural that there should be a spin-off.

For the first time ever, the 48 Hour Film Project introduces a new game: the 48 Hour Music Video Project. The premise is basically the same: teams of filmmakers have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a music video. Making it even more interesting, however, is the involvement of a completely different group of artists: the musicians themselves. At registration, filmmaking teams will be paired with bands and musicians, and they will collaborate to create the best music video they can.

The filmmaking weekend will run from November 9 to 11 with screenings of the completed videos taking place at Village 8 on November 15. Registration is now open, with discounted early bird pricing available until Monday, October 15 – so sign up soon.

Registration for filmmakers is $95 until October 15 and $125 after. Also, teams who participated in this year's 48 Hour Film Project receive a $25 discount. Registration for bands is $190 until October 15 and $220 after.

Complete details, rules, and online registration can be found at the 48 Hour Music Video Project website.

About Allan Day

There are legitimate theories that the Big Bang originated from the collapse of a black hole in a fourth-dimensional universe. This stuff fascinates me, and I love reading about it. I love reading about science. And about anything, for that matter, provided it's interesting - and everything is potentially interesting, so I'm fascinated by a lot of things. I also read a lot of fiction (Kurt Vonnegut deserves deification) and watch a lot of movies (Charlie Chaplin also deserves deification). I've made a few short films myself. I'm also a writer of everything - I'm close to a Bachelor's in English at IUS. My life consists of reading, writing, bartending, and taking care of my daughter full-time. Life is busy and life is stressful, but that's why there's music and art and other forms of relaxation.
