Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing invites everyone to its annual Riverside Heritage Festival on Saturday, October 11, from noon-5 p.m. This free family festival features great music, food, traditional craft demonstrations, and activities for children and adults of all ages. Musical entertainment will be provided by regional favorites Fresh Cut Grass (Noon to 2 p.m.) and the Juggernaut Jug Band (2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m). Young and old are invited to participate in Riverside’s ongoing archaeological dig under the guidance of archaeologists from the Kentucky Archaeological Survey. Visitors can also enjoy demonstrations of blacksmithing, weaving, pioneer weaponry, soapmaking, spinning, Native American crafts, flintknapping, quilting and more. Children can paint pumpkins, enjoy storytelling, pony rides and horse-drawn carriage rides. The Friends of the Southwest Regional Library will be offering wonderful book bargains at its book sale during the festival. Concessions will be provided by the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association and Ehrler's Ice Cream. Musical entertainment, exhibits and most children’s activities are free. However, a ticket is required for some activities, including a tour of the Farnsley-Moremen House ($3/adults & seniors; $1.50/children), pony rides ($2/person) and horse-drawn carriage rides ($2/person). 

The Riverside Heritage Festival will be held in conjunction with the Southwest Community Festival at Sun Valley Park. A free TARC trolley will shuttle visitors between both festival sites from Noon to 5 p.m.

 Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing is located at 7410 Moorman Road. Regular Hours are Tuesday—Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays, 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Directions from downtown:  Take I-65 South to the Gene Snyder Freeway West. Continue about 10 miles from I-65. Continue toward “Riverport” onto the Greenbelt Highway. Take the first left at the stop light onto Lower River Road.
