Winstar Farm is sponsoring the Road to the Roses Fantasy Challenge which runs through April 30. It is a fun, fantasy horse racing game that gets you thinking about the Derby contenders and gives you another reason to follow the Derby prep races.
Louisville.com is running a league. Join us its' free! Once you’ve created your barn and entered the contest, join the Louisville.com league for a chance to win a to-be determined prize (it'll be a good one and announced shortly, although probably not as sawnky as the Road to the Roses's overall grand prize for all particpants, which includes tickets to the 2012 Kentucky Derby). At the bottom of your stable information you’ll find a link to the League Manager section. Select the Join a League tab and add the requested information: Our league identifier is 2713961786 and the activation code is 2124218655. We’ll monitor the results and post our league rankings throughout the game.
As for how the contest itself works, Road to the Roses is an easy to play game in which you create your own fantasy stable that you fill with 10 Triple Crown nominated horses of your own choosing, along with your selection of two jockeys and two trainers. Points are awarded for Derby prep races beginning Saturday, Feb. 26 and culminating with the Kentucky Derby. Points vary depending upon the grade of the stakes race and whether your horse finishes first, second, or third.
You can double the points earned for a race when you make your horse a Power Horse. Only five horses can be selected as a Power Horse at any given time and must be selected before a scoring race day. You can otherwise change Power Horses at any time throughout the competition.
You also receive points when your jockey or trainer wins an eligible race regardless of whether or not you have the winning horse. Two supplemental draft stages allow you to add a total of five more horses to your stable. The stable with the most points wins the top prize package which includes tickets to the 2012 Kentucky Derby. Weekly prizes are also awarded. More information and official rules can be found at www.roadtotheroses.com. Make sure you check out the Road to the Roses Facebook page too.
So, while you’re waiting to create your NCAA bracket, join in the fun and create your Derby stable!
