Make your vote really count this weekend at the Louisville Cocktail Contest, held at RYE on Sunday, October 14.

 

Ten local bartenders will shake and stir their finest concoctions for the inaugural contest, taking place in the parking lot at RYE, located at 900 East Market Street. Bartenders will be judged on three locally significant cocktails: The Mint Julep, The Old Fashioned, and The Seelbach. 

 

Sunday’s contestants include Chris Wilkins of Proof, Susie Hoyt of Silver Dollar, Michael Anderson of Seelbach Bar, Jacquelyn Zykan of La Coop, Bradley Hammond of Meat, Kevin Bois of Garage Bar, Jason Cobbler of Harvest, Scott Kirkpatrick of RYE, Michael Shelley of Doc Crows, and Chris George of St. Charles Exchange.

 

“The main goal is to encourage and promote cocktail culture in Louisville,” said Erin Macdonald, General Manager at RYE. “There are so many great bars and bartenders doing innovative and delicious things and we want to encourage camaraderie amongst the bartenders and customers.” 

 

The event is open to the public, and guests are encouraged to vote along with the judges. The event is free with 5 stamps on your Spirits Passport (available at all participating restaurants and bars.) Without the passport, entry is $10 (which includes a drink ticket.) Additional tickets will be $6 each, or $20 for a group of 4. 

 

The battle of booze is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
