Rock the World Festival Review [Music]

Holiday World was invaded by music Saturday as bands joined to play at the all-day Christian music festival Rock the World.

Grammy-nominated Jeremy Camp was the headliner for the festival. With his praise and worship sound, this native born Hoosier got the crowd to their feet right from the start with hits like “Everlasting God,” “Jesus Saves,” and rock ballad “I’m Alive.” I was surprised to hear one of the hits that launched his career, “Take You Back,” early in his set list as well. True to his mission, Jeremy Camp delivered an enjoyable show with an important message.

Tenth Avenue North and Barlow Girl got the crowd at the main stage ready for the headliner in their own fashion. Winners of two Dove awards, Tenth Avenue North‘s alternative rock style had the crowd swaying and singing along while Barlow Girl’s powerful vocals and rock ballads had many young fans jamming.

Holiday World provided two stages for this event, a main stage on the backside of the park and a smaller stage inside the park. Regional bands played on both of these stages throughout the day and provided a relaxing break from the heat and the lines.

Even though there were many bands playing a very tight schedule, the staff at Holiday World ensured that the shows ran smoothly. I was surprised that every show was perfectly on time; this is something I don’t see happen very often.

Before Jeremy Camp took the stage at the end of the night, it was announced that Holiday World would be hosting another Rock the World next year. I’m sure this decision had something to do with the enormous crowd that gathered for this year’s festival which I would definitely call a success. Rock the World would provide a great “end of summer” event for churches and youth groups in the area and will hopefully become an annual celebration.
