Runnin’ down a dream: The Louisville triple crown concludes with the Papa John’s 10 Miler [Sports]

Louisville’s triple crown brings in entrants from all over the country. While you might not have run a mile since the Presidential Fitness test back in high school P.E., the event is something that Louisville athletes and residents can hang their hat on.

Marathons have been events that have steadily gained more ground among major cities across the country wishing to promote healthy behavior. And, certainly Louisville, being among the major towns doing something about it so to speak, is truly a remarkable endeavor that shows a dedication toward personal and regional health.

I should probably add at this point that in previous years I have been drug to the Anthem 5K, the first event in the Triple Crown. I don’t mean to say that people need to be dragged to the event; just that I did. But, in my defense, it was mainly because I was told about a day before that I would be in the 5K; a friend of mine dropped out and the team needed somebody to take their place.

Enter me.

Still, with sore feet and ankles, I accomplished this feat two years in a row with little to no preparation. Now, I don’t encourage this. It’s simply the happenstance of my life.

I will say this, too. Some take it very seriously and, hey, good for them. And, some of us are just there to enjoy the camaraderie and couldn’t care less about what time we reach the finish line. It’s more about why bad golfers hit the links, which I believe is to avoid work at all costs. I mean, I’m a bad golfer as well, and well, that’s why I golf.

Anyway, the Triple Crown kicked off February 26 with this year’s Anthem 5K. It worked its way up to Saturday’s leg, the Rhodes City Run, and now jogs to the pinnacle of the event, the Papa John’s 10 Miler. Late registration is still available at www.louisvilletriplecrown.com. The race kicks off on March 26th, where gathering and assembly is 6 to 7:30 a.m.
I would continue writing this, but I have to go pick up some Epsom salt.

Good day and good run.
