As far as beauty goes, guys have it tough. Men don’t really want to be pampered, but they like to feel as though they’re being indulged. No one wants to spend a fortune for something that isn’t worth it, but many are willing to pay a premium price for premium results. Bennie Pollard, a local entrepreneur and hairstylist, has recently added another business endeavor to his lineup, and is the answer to all (well some) of a macho man’s dreams.
Where do guys go when they want the classic barbershop experience, but with a heavy-handed dash of sophistication? Where do sharp guys go for equally sharp looks? Drawing blanks, Market Street Barbers was born. This isn’t the barbershop/salon your fiancée is going to drag you too, and this isn’t the place to go to when you want to get a mani-pedi. They don’t offer those anyway. Cuts, classic straight razor shaves, and grey blending is all you’ll find here, with a finesse that is to be admired.
Having opened just this past November, Market Street Barbers is settling into its NuLu home quite nicely. Doors down from tasty taco establishment Taco Punk and Man Heaven, excuse me, The Beer Store, MSB is not difficult to miss. But if you do like something to look for, think Harley Davidson. The bike in the front window is one of two that stay in the shop, shining as the focal points in the sparsely merchandised, impeccably decorated space. Chairs are cut in black leather, standing out against the rough and unfinished red brick. Other walls are industrial and utilitarian cement, blank palates for cool and urban touches like the wooden bench that looks like a tree that has been split down the middle.
Carrying Bennie’s Gage for Men line, you’re sure to leave looking great and having the products to take the look home with you. Ladies, it’s the perfect way to get your man looking sexy and cool while letting him think it was his idea and Gentleman, it’s the perfect way to show your ladies just how good you really can look (and how lucky she is to have you). So give up dull barbershops. Market Street Barbers is the place where you can get Sharp Cuts for Sharp Guys.
