The Taming of the Shrew
is a play within a play, with a "lord" (in reality, a local drunk) watches a production. The production features Lucentio, who has fallen in love with the beautiful Bianca. Hortensio and Gremio have done the same.
However, Bianca's father will not let anyone court Bianca until Katherine, Bianca's older sister, is courted. This leads to pure comedy as all three potential suitors wear disguises and try to get closer to Bianca.
Although the show is free, donations are accepted and will go towards KY Shakespeare
, which brings Shakespearean shows like Taming of the Shrew to area schools throughout the year. It's KY Shakespeare Festival in Central Park begins June 7.
