Originally designed as a Christmas card image, the iconic pop-art LOVE graphic by Robert Indiana was eventually made into a steel sculpture and is now on loan to the Speed Museum. Be among the first to preview this and hear an update on future happenings and plans for the museum at the VIP preview of the season on Oct. 14th at 5:30 p.m.
Doors open at 5 p.m.
Admission is free for Members, $15 for guests. Seating is limited so RSVP to 502.634.2970 if you would like to attend.

The museum will also be opening the exhibit Willie Doherty: Traces featuring large-scale photographs and videos of the Irish landscape that counters the idyllic image of rolling hills and grazing sheep. Doherty’s images of burned-out cars and damaged border crossings allude to something more dark and menacing.

The exhibition will include two single-channel video installations -- Ghost Story and Buried, which is a recent acquisition to the Museum’s contemporary collection.

Willie Doherty: Traces is presented with support by Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson and is being held in conjunction with the Photo Biennial. The exhibit will run through January 1st.

About Julie Gross

I’m originally from Ohio, but have been a Louisvillian for half my life. I divide my time between hubby, 3 kids, too many pets, and the 930 Art Center. When I'm not, you'll find me running the trails in Cherokee or Jefferson Memorial Forest.
