Romeo and Juliet

Star-crossed lovers unite despite family war in Louisville Ballet's Romeo and Juliet, which opens tomorrow.

Romeo and Juliet performances will happen on Mar. 1 and 2 at 8 p.m.  A matinee will occur on Mar. 2 at 2 p.m.  All performances are to take place at Whitney Hall, located in Kentucky Center for the Arts at 501 West Main Street in downtown Louisville.

Tickets for each show range from $30-$97 per person, depending on the seat.  All tickets can be purchased at the Kentucky Center box office, the Kentucky Center website, or by calling the box office at 1-800-775-7777.  More information on the show can also be found at the Kentucky Center website.

Romeo and Juliet is one of Shakespeare's best known works, incorporating a love story of two star crossed lovers in the middle of a feud between two rival families.  Romeo and Juliet begin their love affair in secrecy, but will they be able to keep it going with the surrounding war?

Alun Jones and Helen Starr provided choreography for Romeo and Juliet, and Sergei Prokofiev provided the music.

Following Romeo and Juliet, Louisville Ballet will present Breaking Ground, a mixed repertory program. That production will take place in April.
