Support young archers at the Kentucky International Convention Center this week

Whether due to the popularity of things like “The Hunger Games” or ‘The Walking Dead”, archery is experiencing a resurgence of interest. The sport has become so popular that the Kentucky High School Athletic Association added archery as a sports activity.

Kentucky participates in the National Archery in the Schools program and on Monday and Tuesday, March 18th and 19th, Louisville will host over 4,000 archers for the 12th annual Kentucky National Archery in the Schools Tournament at the Kentucky International  Convention Center, Exhibit Hall 2CD.

On Monday, from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, from 8:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m., students ranging from 4th to 12th grade will compete against one and the public is invited.

Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-18 and free for children under the age of six.

The National Archery in the Schools Program was started in 2002 as a way to involve more children in outdoor activities and as a way to improve focus and self- esteem, as archery is a sport available to everyone who is willing to practice. There are more than 155,000 Kentucky students in the program.

Archery will also be an important skill to have, should a zombie apocalypse ever come to the Bluegrass.
