The first day of pin sales is a sure sign that spring is right around the corner - in fact it's this Sunday. Over the past 32 years Pegasus Pins
have become one of the cornerstones of the Derby Festival. It's hard to believe, but more than 11 MILLION Pegasus Pins have been sold to date. Pin sales now account for about 20 percent of the Festival's annual operating budget. The Pin Sponsorship Program, which has been developed and nurtured by our own Bridget Sherrill, has become a model for other festivals around the country.
Purchasing a Pegasus Pin not only helps support the Derby Festival financially, it gives the wearer free access to about two-thirds of the Festival's events. For three dollars, it's the best bargain in the city. There are five designs this year and as always, the Pin envelopes include great coupons for popular local products and retailers.
Those lucky purchasers who find a Gold Pin in their envelope will be eligible to win one of 12 incredible Grand Prizes including a 2005 Honda Odyssey minivan and a Hawaiian vacation.
Says Dan Owens, 2005 KDF Chairman, "Get your pins early and often!" Sporting a Pegasus Pin on your collar or lapel is the best fashion statement you can make at this time of year.
Pins will be available at more than 1000 area banks and retail outlets starting Monday, March 21st
