General Information
Across the country, states struggle with the challenge of providing health-care access to their citizens who can't afford it. In Kentucky, nearly 520,000 “working poor” do not qualify for government assistance, yet cannot afford health insurance. Luckily, Health Kentucky, a statewide nonprofit organization, is here to help.
We have served more than 300,000 patients since our inception in 1984. Last year, thanks to the generosity of our partners, Health Kentucky helped 42,000 Kentuckians get the care and medicine they needed (approximately 92,000 prescriptions valued at more than $12 million).
Eligible patients receive free medical care and medications through a statewide network of volunteer doctors, pharmaceutical companies, pharmacies, hospitals, dentists, home health agencies and hospices. By helping this group, we not only show our compassion, we also address the rising health care costs for everyone since it is estimated that 12% of our premiums go to cover those without insurance.
You can sustain our efforts by becoming a sponsor, purchasing tickets, or donating goods and services to our auction. Approximately 500+ health care providers, administrators, legislators, and business and community leaders attend this fun event featuring scrumptious dining stations, dancing to the sounds of Platinum, a brief awards ceremony and a live and silent auction. Your contributions to Health Kentucky – a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization – are tax-deductible.
