LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Season tickets to the University of Louisville's home football games have all been sold, the earliest sellout in school history.
"We appreciate the support of our fans," said U of L Vice President for Athletics Tom Jurich. "It's apparent that our fans are not only excited about our team, but are looking forward to competition in our first season in the BIG EAST Conference. It's great to see so many people wanting to be a part of our game-day experience."
U of L can sell just under 35,000 season tickets in 42,000-seat Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The remaining seats are held for fans of visiting teams, corporate marketing packages and U of L's internal needs.
A limited number of single game tickets, priced at $32, for each of the Cardinals' home football games will go on sale first at Saturday's fan preview event at the U of L ticket office, located near Gate 2 of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium adjacent to Floyd Street.
After the event, tickets may be purchased with no service fees by visiting that same U of L ticket office weekdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Cardinal fans may also purchase tickets by visiting ticketmaster.com online beginning Monday (Aug. 15), calling (502) 361-3100 or visiting any Ticketmaster Ticket Center, including select statewide Kroger locations.
Last season, U of L set a school record for average home attendance in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, averaging 40,351 in its five home games. U of L sold out four of its five home games a year ago. Two of the top five crowds ever in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium witnessed games last season: the season opener against Kentucky drew a record 42,681 and a crowd of 42,032 -- the fifth-largest -- saw the Cardinals defeat South Florida.
Fans are invited to att/files/storyimages/the Cardinal Football Preview on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 6-9 p.m. in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Giveaways, posters and schedule cards are available for fans at the free event to watch the Cardinals practice, followed by an autograph session.
