The annual match up between UK and U of L is scheduled for December 31st at noon, and guess what…the game is sold out. Reports from Rupp Arena and the UK athletics department confirm single game tickets for the event are no more. Tickets sold out in record time for the rivalry, to take place in Lexington this year.
Both Coach John Calipari and Coach Rick Pitino were in attendance at Bullitt East High School last night, focused on 2013 recruit Derek Willis. They exchanged a few words and a betting man would put money on something being said about the upcoming game. The annual game fuels a rivalry dating back to their first meeting on the hardwood in 1913. The series picked up serious momentum in the 1980’s.
Fans who are not attending the game will have plenty of options for a game watching venue as sports bars around the cities of both Lexington and Louisville will look to cash in, kind of like their Black Friday. The basketball meeting between the two teams is a much anticipated day in the Commonwealth, and fans take this business very seriously.
