The inaugural Urban Stampede, presented by Atomic Rhino, takes place tomorrow in Downtown Louisville. Two-person teams will use clues to reach a series of destinations, and each destination includes an obstacle that racers must complete before moving to the next stop. The first wave of racers will begin at 10 a.m., with subsequent waves beginning every 30 minutes thereafter. The route starts at the Belvedere, continues to Churchill Downs, and returns. Depending on the skill level of each participant, the race is expected to last between 2.5 to 4 hours.
Reality TV competitors Mary and David Conley (The Amazing Race 10 & 11), Sandy Burgin (Survivor Tocantins), and Mark and Bopper (The Amazing Race 20), as well as other reality TV stars will be in attendance to participate and cheer on the competitors as they travel by foot and public transit.
Starting at 12 p.m., food and drinks will be available for purchase in the Stampede Town, and an inflatable area will be available to children. At 6 p.m., American Idol contestants Haley Scarnato, Lindsey Cardinale, and Michael Sarver, as well as Nashville Star Jeff Fairchild will perform on stage.
The Urban Stampede follows the inaugural Stampede Mud Race, which was held on May 19, as a way to bring excitement back to exercise, as well as create a unique experience for families competing together. The Stampede series is based in Louisville, but will be expanding to other states in the future.
Teams can register on the day of the event for $140, up until each wave is full. The age limit to participate in the race is 8 years and older.
Parent company Atomic Rhino Events proudly partners with local charities for community, family, and children. This year, the organization is partnering with FEAT of Louisville (Families for Effective Autism Treatment), Dare to Care Food Bank, and Brightside.
