VHS or BETA come home to Louisville
Print this page

Originally from Louisville, Craig Pfunder and Mark Palgry were able to reunite with their roots when they played Headliners Friday night.  To start the homecoming, OK DeeJays filled the house with a super cool mix while people gathered, had a drink, and got situated for The Photographic. Round about 11pm, VHS or BETA gave the crows what they came to see-a fantastic show with great sounds and stunning lights.

Fans came out to enjoy this homecoming and they cheered as Craig and Mark took the stage and geared up for the show.  Sounds reminiscent of Duran Duran’s earlier works filled the hall as the crowds reveled in the old and new material.  Pfunder and Palgry are touring the US to support their latest album, Breaking Bones, released under Astralwerks and directed by Graham Hill. The album takes a little bit of this and a little bit of that and tosses it around and what comes out is just really good music.  Taut chords and crisp lyrics add something special, a consistent and unique sound.

Pfunder’s voice is amazing.  A witness to the show would agree that the sounds come from his soul and combines so well with the smooth keyboards and pure bass provided by Palgry.  VHS or BETA not only provides sleek, new age sounds; but maintain a stage presence to interact with and bring the crowd into the show.   The fans, young and old came out to play-thank goodness it wasn’t a school night!

The fans kept to their feet for the majority of the show showing much appreciation for their hometown heroes.  Craig commented, “we love it here, even though we don’t live here anymore, it will always be home.”  Craig and Mark spent a lot of time out with the fans, talking and reliving memories from their days in town.  Although the band is in Brooklyn now, they very much enjoy all the fans and miss their friends from days past.
