The importance of love is a message that will never go away in the world of film. It is perhaps the most enduring theme throughout the history of the medium. It is certainly a significant message, one that has been explored in many different ways, and will continue to be explored.

Village 8 Louisville Exclusives presents a limited run of the Scottish film “Perfect Sense.” This film, which made its debut at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, is a love story between a chef and an epidemiologist (one who studies health and disease) as an epidemic sweeps the world, affecting emotions and sensory perceptions.

The chef is played by Ewan McGregor (“Big Fish,” “Moulin Rouge”) and his love interest is portrayed by the beautiful Eva Green (who made her acting debut with the stunning film “The Dreamers”; other credits include “The Golden Compass” and “Kingdom of Heaven”). Rounding out the cast is Connie Nelson (“One Hour Photo”), Stephen Dillane (“The Greatest Game Ever Played”), and Ewen Bremner (who was the title character of the incredible “Julien Donkey-Boy”; he also appeared with McGregor in “Trainspotting”).

Director David McKenzie has worked with Ewan McGregor once before in his 2003 film “Young Adam,” which is about a man who works on river barges and finds a woman’s body floating in the canal. His other films include “Asylum,” “Spread,” and “Hallam Foe.”

“Perfect Sense” plays at Village 8 until this upcoming Thursday, February 23. Village 8 Theater is located at 4014 Dutchman’s Lane. More information about the theater and show times can be found at the Village 8 website.
