Where To Go

The sun will supposedly come out and stay out this weekend. If this is so, what better way to celebrate than to lend a helping hand to Breaking New Grounds on Saturday (May 28th) from 9am to 12pm. The non-profit focuses on planting community gardens in Louisville's food deserts. They are calling on all folk that play well with dirt to come by their "urban farm" at 2105 Woodland Avenue (22nd and Woodland Avenue).

Saturday's agenda is to populate the community garden with tomatoes, peppers, and sweet corn. If you are more into worm work (I'm not sure what this is, but feel it's worth checking out) or hoophouse work, that's also an option.

The organization is luring volunteers with Heine Brother's Coffee, snacks, and the possibility of winning a bag of worm compost (Life's Magic worm compost is serious business in your beds).

You can either show up at the community garden or let Breaking New Grounds know that you are attending by dialing 356-2216.
