Never is it too early to start learning the craft that is theatre, and never is it too late to enjoy the Walden Theatre 2012-13 theatre season.

Throughout the year, Walden Theatre will present many learning opportunities for students wanting to further their theatre education.  Classes in improv, studio, apprentice, performance, and playwrighting are available.

Those classes will present their own various showcases throughout the year as well as the Young Playwrights Festival 2013 (Feb. 2013), In Celebration of Shakespeare/Why Shakespeare? (April 2013).

Also, during the 2012-13 season, Walden Theatre will present a number of productions, including Summer Brave, a story on youth, a stranger, and life passing by, opens the season in September.  The Greek tragedy Oresteia follows in October.

Coming on Halloween weekend is the headless wonder in the Young Company production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.  The Slant Culture Series, meanwhile, will close out the year with Salvation Road, a comic-drama of a brother attempting to reclaim his sister.  That show will occur in November.

The Yum Family Series opens the 2013 part of the season with Great Expectations, based on the Charles Dickens novel, in January 2013.  Quilters, a celebration of women and pioneer life, will occur in February and March 2013.

Finally, Walden Theatre will close out its 2012-13 season with its annual Young American Shakespeare Festival.  Productions for this performance will be The Tempest, Two Gentlemen of Verona, both by Shakespeare, and Pierre Corneille's The Liar.  The festival will go on in May 2013.

All performances are to happen at Walden Theatre, located at 1123 Payne Street in the Highlands area of Louisville.  Tickets for each show range from $8-$15, depending on the show time.

More information on all classes, tickets, and shows can be found at the Walden Theatre website.
