My Morning Jacket’s upcoming performance for the “Unstaged” music series – in partnership with VEVO and YouTube – will air tonight live at 9:00 pm EST at http://www.youtube.com/mymorningjacketVEVO. Also joining MMJ tonight onstage is Grammy award-winning singer Erykah Badu and actress Rachel Dratch.

MMJ has also released a series of trailers for show, one of which included a request for fans to send in artistic photos of their eyeballs, to be featured as a part of the live-stream, which is being directed by award-winning filmmaker Todd Haynes. The guys have also requested attendees of the show to come dressed in fancy clothes to match the grandeur of the venue, the historic Louisville Palace Theater.

“We are incredibly honored that Todd Haynes has agreed to direct this show for us,” said lead singer Jim James. “We can’t wait to immerse ourselves in his creative vision and masterful take on this live-streamed performance. Fans will certainly be in for a magical and surreal ride.”

My Morning Jacket’s new album, Circuital, hits store shelves today via ATO Records. It was recorded in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN, and was co-produced by frontman Jim James and Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Sufjan Stevens, The Decemberists).

    About Jason Ashcraft

Jason is a life-long Louisville native who grew up in the Highlands, and now resides in an undisclosed fortified location somewhere in Louisville. He's followed Louisville's rock music scene for almost 10 years, first as a concert promoter, then an artist manager, and now a music critic and reviewer. He's one crazy Jarhead who'll literally publish anything his mind conceives on impulse, so don't always expect him to follow the traditional laws of journalism. He has intent of reviving Hunter S. Thompson's “gonzo journalism” if only his editors will allow it...which they don't usually. Head over to LouisvilleScuttlebutt.com for more published rhetoric.
