The Place Downstairs is now open (as of March 27) in the basement of Mussel & Burger Bar. Serving upscale American fusion, the new Martinez venture is swanky and incredibly posh. Not to be missed.
Brazeiros Churrascaria, one of the two new Brazilian steakhouses planned for Fourth Street, is set to open (grandly?) on March 31.
Rob-E-Que, a barbecue joint on Bishop Lane, is set to open March 31. According to their website, Rob-E-Que will offer gourmet smoked foods for carry-out and catering, as well as dine-in.
According to Insider Louisville, the old Maido location is turning into Bar Code 1758, with traditional Japanese fare and "lots of things on skewers."
Dark Star, on Frankfort Avenue, is to be replaced by a BBC-run brewhouse, which Louisville Hot Bytes reports may be more of a restaurant. Great location for a brewhouse or a restaurant, and will anyone really miss Dark Star?
Another new addition is planned for Fourth Street Live! in Tavern on Fourth, an "upscale bar on the second floor of fourth street." Tavern's grand opening is set for April 11.
Main Street Cafe (in the Ice House) closed for financial reasons.
