The current University of Kentucky Wildcats and University of Louisville Cardinals may be playing their yearly match-up on January 4th, 2009, but it’s the former stars from each team who are hitting the hardwood the night before at the inaugural Hardwood Classic 2009 at Hoops in eastern Jefferson County.
Tickets for the match are $10 for general admission or $25 reserved and can be purchased on site for the game at Hoops at 12101 Sycamore Station Place. Proceeds will benefit the WHAS Crusade For Children.
Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
Musical entertainment for the evening will be provided by Smoke E. Digglera, Bittersweet, LLC recording artist and Patrick Henry Hughes. This family and fan-friendly event will also have food and beverages as well as activities for all ages.
Known as a basketball state, Kentucky has provided one of the greatest rivalries in college basketball with the Wildcats and the Cardinals. The Hardwood Classic game offers a chance to relive memories of some of the best known former players from each school as they compete against each other once again!
Rosters for the event have not been released at this time, but be sure to tune into WHAS 11 each day to see if your favorite UK or UL former athlete will be joining in on the fun! For more information, please visit www.whas11.com or www.whascrusade.org. Or, you can call Hoops at (502) 814-6677. Cards, Cats, Crusade!
