Winston’s Wine Academy Class
Spend the evening sipping summer wines at a Winston’s Wine Academy class on Thursday, July 24 at Winston’s Restaurant. Wine enthusiasts will enjoy an interactive lecture from 6:30-8 p.m. with Aaron Dawkins of Vanguard Wines, including five varietals and a tasting plate to complement the flavors of each, for $35 per person. An optional dinner will be available prior to the wine class, from 5 – 6 p.m., including an entrée of grilled chicken or grilled salmon served with a summer salad and soup du jour for $20 per person. Reservations are required.

Kentucky Music Weekend 2014 at Iroquois Ampitheater
For the 39th consecutive year, the KENTUCKY MUSIC WEEKEND folk festival brings together some of the finest folk musicians and Kentucky traditions to Louisville’s Iroquois Amphitheater and the tree-lined area nearby. Voted into law as Kentucky’s “Premier Folk Festival,” KMW continues to be one of the top folk festivals in the country.

NuLu Summer Block Party
Businesses throughout the NuLu area will hold a block party from July 25-26, beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m. each day, though some businesses will close earlier or later. Beginning on Saturday the 26th, take part in a scavenger hunt for all ages with prizes, beginning at the Local Speed and winding through the neighborhood before ending back at the Local Speed. Don’t forget about the ice cream party held by The Comfy Cow, taking place in Barry Wooley’s parking lot at 835 E. Main Street. Keep posted through the Nulu Business Association, or NBA, which will guide you to all the best places to eat, shop, and have fun, featuring businesses and neighborhood specials and events.

The Wedding Show at Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center

July’s Fat Friday Trolley Hop  
Explore the Clifton, Crescent Hill and Butchertown neighborhoods by way of a trolley ride! The FAT Friday Trolley Hop was launched in 2004 and has become a signature event on Frankfort Avenue. Held year-round on the final Friday of every month, this event draws attracts thousands of people to enjoy free trolley rides to participating shops, restaurants and galleries along the Frankfort, Mellwood and Story Avenue corridor. Many of the businesses host live music and entertainment, complimentary refreshments and special sales on trolley hop nights. The F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop takes place on the Final Friday of each month. Trolleys run from 6:00 pm until 10:30 pm unless otherwise specified.
