Who, Who doesn't like a Hootenanny that's all about kindness?

Are you a fan of kindness? (Who’s not, right?)

Well, then this weekend, there’s a festival specifically for you.

The Mighty Kindness Harvest Hootenanny is this Saturday, October 27, from 12-6 p.m. at Waterfront Park’s Brown-Forman Amphitheater. An extra kindness? It’s all free!

An outreach of Clifton UU Church, the Mighty Kindness Harvest Hootenanny seeks to bring together local services for the body, soul, heart and mind that will help root our society in a sense of kindness, unity and social justice.  The Hoot, as if it affectionately called, is all about peace, love, joy, healing, sustainability, community, family and friends.

Also, there will be other types of kindness, such as:

  • Local food: veggie, vegan, grass fed beef and organic desserts
  • Mighty KIDness area with fun eco activities, art studio, face painting, kid’s music, and trick or treating (yes, have the kiddos come in costume!)
  • Local music by artists such as Nick Peay, Leigh Ann Yost, Kri n Hettie,  Barefoot Best Friends, Tom Boone, and on and on. There is a second stage added this year to accommodate more artists.
  • The Mighty Kind Second Line-bring your decorated umbrella for the promenade.
  • The Mighty Bizarre Bazaar-a place to buy locally made upcycled art, crafts, clothes and jewelry.

In addition there will be Community Conversation Circles, local farms, green business, alternative energy displays, Peace and Social Justice groups, massage, yoga, reiki, craniosacral therapy, natural medicine and herbs and the Healing Arts Taoist Tai Chi Society.

Basically, there will be something for everyone.

So, come out this weekend for the Hoot.

If nothing else, the world could use more kindness….and more reasons to legitimately use the word “hootenanny” in everyday conversation.
