Walden Theatre students perform three Shakespearean works in repertory during the Young American Shakespeare Festival, which opens tonight.
The Young American Shakespeare Festival will present three Shakespearean works: As You Like It, Richard II, and Pericles. All performances are to take place at Walden Theatre, located at 1123 Payne Street in the Highlands.
Tickets for each evening show are $15 for adults, $10 for students, and $10 for seniors. Matinee shows, meanwhile, are $10 for adults, $8 for students, and $8 for seniors. All tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved by calling 502-589-0084.
Richard II opens the festival, featuring a king who, returning from war, finds his rival has built an army to recapture an inheritance. Richard II will go on May 8, 10, 12, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on May 17 at 2 p.m.
Pericles opens next, which focuses on a Greek prince on the run. Along the way, he engages in spectacular rescues, attractive women, and some tragedy. Pericles will occur on May 9, 11, 13, adn 14 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on May 18 at 2 p.m.
Last, but not least, to open is As You Like It. Two friends and a jester head into the Arcadian wilderness, where they encounter those removed from their homeland, lovesick princes, and others. Mischief and love will be in effect in As You Like It, which goes on May 16, 17, and 18 at 7:30 p.m. as well as May 10 and 11 at 2 p.m. each day.
