In 2007 YUM! Brands decided to commit its global resources to a large-scale crisis that it is well-positioned to address – hunger relief. This annual initiative known as “World Hunger Relief” leveraged the power of YUM!'s more than one million associates and over 37,000 restaurants to address hunger through awareness, volunteerism and fundraising. With community generosity and the commitment from its associates, franchisees and customers in 100+ countries, YUM! has created the world’s largest private sector hunger relief effort in history. To date, they've donated nearly $85 million to hunger-related agencies around the globe, helping to provide over 350 million meals and save the lives of millions of people in more than 30 countries. YUM!'s employees, franchisees and their families have volunteered more than 21 million hours to aid hunger relief efforts in communities worldwide.
YUM! Brands has also remained committed to solving hunger right here at home. Sadly, one in five children in Louisville is at risk of going to bed hungry each night. Since 2002, the YUM! Brands Foundation has committed over $9 million to end hunger through its partnership with the local Dare to Care Food Bank, Louisville’s largest hunger relief organization.
Wendy and David Novak and Yum! Brands invite you to join the movement to end world hunger along with the Master of Ceremonies, Terry Meiners of the Blues Brothers.
