The Louisville Zoo invites you to “zoo something fun” throughout the month of July. The upcoming events are presented by Qdoba and include a movie night, getting fit walking style, an adult safari night, and my favorite: the reunification with the beloved Zoo train.
The memories my family and I have on the Louisville Zoo train are priceless. We probably rode that train once a week practically when my daughter was between 1-6 years old. It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since our last ride (which we took the day before the unfortunate accident). But we’re ready to happily ride again, and now with a new person along. Our daughter has a little brother now who has never ridden the train. We can’t wait to start a new family tradition with all four of us. July is a perfect time for us, and many Louisville families, to get on board. The Zoo is offering a new membership level, Safari Gold, for families who have not yet renewed. Click this link for information about various options to receive train/tram/carousel rides/4D theater tickets with your membership.
Other events that are approaching are Friday Night Movie featuring “Madagascar 3” on Friday, July 12 beginning at 6pm in the Oasis Field. Zoo members can attend the movie nights for free; there is a special admission price of $5 after 5pm for all others. Plan to sprawl out on the lawn with your own blankets and chairs and enjoy the evening together!
The Zoo isn’t just for kids either. Adults enjoy the Zoo just as much as children do, and in July the Zoo is offering a couple of adult-only activities that look promising. Saturday, July 13, 9am-1pm, join others at the Zoo for the Norton Healthcare Get Healthy Walking Expo. You can enjoy all of the Zoo’s attractions while participating in free health screenings and other activities provided by Norton Healthcare’s Center for Prevention and Wellness. Call 502-629-1234 for information.
And on Saturday, July 20, go out on a date with your significant other at the Zoo. The WAKY Great American Date Night (presented by Kroger) starts at 6pm with food and wine tastings. Music begins at 7pm and you can watch the classic American movie, Grease, at sundown. The zoo exhibits will be open until 8pm. It’s all free with Zoo admission or your membership. Also for the first time, the Zoo is hosting an Adult Night Safari the same evening. Hosted by the Zoo’s Education Department, “Some Like It Hot” is an overnight safari for adults 21 years and older. It begins at 7pm with a special tour of the Islands exhibit with a continental breakfast and morning tour the following day. Ticket prices are $40 for Louisville Zoo members; $55 for non-members. Call 502-238-5344 to book your safari!
Qdoba Tuesdays is happening every Tuesday in July. Show your Qdoba loyalty card at the admission gate and receive $2 off a general admission ticket. Reciprocally, show your Zoo ticket stub or Zoo membership card any day in July and receive a free kid’s meal with an adult entrée purchase.
