Whackers and Hackers is an exhibition guest curated by Scott Scarboro. Artists have been asked to observe the simple form and function of a golf club and then create a non-functional club in another material. My Racing Heart, (MRH) a recently formed, non-profit equine charity, has a unique fundraiser for August; it will be selling it’s own signature par fume scent named, appropriately enough, “My Racing Heart.” Beginning Saturday, August 9th, the My Racing Heart eau de parfum, will be sold at the location of the manufacturer, The Parfumerie of Chenoweth Square. Sales times will be 12 to 5pm each Saturday throughout the month.

The 2008 National Jug Band Jubilee takes place on Saturday, August 23rd at the Brown-Forman Amphitheater on River Road in Waterfront Park. And for the first time, this event is FREE to the public! Gates open at noon; music runs from 1-10pm. Featuring music by 6 great jug bands, including Louisville favorites The Juggernaut Jug Band! Each work of art that an artist creates is infused with his experiences and feelings; unfortunately we rarely get the chance after an artist’s death to learn what may have influenced the work. For the exhibition Sidney D. Crosier: Hoosier Art Pioneer, this program offers the chance to gain some insight into Crosier’s life. Larry Ordner and David Kocka, co-curators of the exhibition, will share their perspectives of Crosier as an artist and the legacy he left behind.

The Nazareth Picnic will be held Saturday, August 23, from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m., on the grounds of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth just north of Bardstown off of Hwy 31 in Nazareth, Ky. The picnic will feature game booths, a cake booth, crafts for sale, children's activities, hamburgers/hot dogs from the grill, and a fried chicken dinner served by ticket number inside the air conditioned Motherhouse dining room. There will be free entertainment throughout the day. The Nazareth Picnic will help raise funds for ministries in the United States, Africa, Central America, India, and Nepal.
