The Louisville Artisans Guild will kick off the holiday shopping season with its annual Holiday Showcase at the American Legion Highland Post in Louisville, Nov 1st and 2nd. Approximately 40 juried guild members will offer exceptional handmade wares in a comfortable indoor setting. These artisans will offer pottery, textiles, sculpture, jewelry, glass, wood, stained glass, photography, painting and more. Exhibitors are from Louisville and surrounding areas of Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Ben Sollee has found considerable success in recent years through his ability to bend. In 2007, he was named one of NPR’s “Top Ten Unknown Artists of the Year.” His distinctive cello technique and soulful voice have been marinating for years in his work with avant-garde bluesman Otis Taylor, The Sparrow Quartet, (featuring banjo-master Béla Fleck), and on the internationally known Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour.

Join us in welcoming the Monks of the Drepung Gomang Monastery as they create a Medicine Buddha Sand Mandala, the Healing Buddha, to invoke healing of the mind and body and promote well-being. The ancient Buddhist art of 'sand painting' is a time consuming, delicate process of creating an intricate design using millions of colored sand particles. The monks will be working on the mandala for 6 hrs a day over 5 days.

Tatjana Krizmanic "Journeys". New pastel drawings by Colorado artist. Krizmanic’s pastel works are whimsical displays of European-influenced public and domestic scenes in brilliant strokes of color, making what would seem to be an ordinary occurrence into an extraordinary experience. Her work contains a warm cheerfulness where shifting perspectives make everyday settings come to life. There will be an Artist Talk and Demonstration Friday, October 17 at 4 PM, followed by a reception for the artist from 5 - 7 PM. Exhibition continues through Novemer 18, 2008.
