Rev. Carolyn Harvill at the Louisville Center for Spiritual Living, is offering a series of free workshops in 2009. The first in the series, Visioning, will provide participants will an opportunity to create personal vision boards and set intentions. These intentions will become the guiding thoughts in their lives. Rev. Carolyn will lead discussions and use meditation, and other tools, to help individuals get in touch with their personal intentions for 2009.

The Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies Program at the University of Louisville is pleased to partner with the Speed Museum to host an Iranian Film Festival from January 11 through February 22, 2009. This festival will introduce films that are well known internationally and offer glimpses into the daily lives of ordinary Iranians. These films address issues such as family, friendship, life changing decisions, and the struggle to survive. Admission is free. (Auditorium)

“Oil and Water” is the newest art exhibit at the Jewish Community Center’s Patio Gallery. The Patio Gallery, located in the lobby, is the elegant setting for imaginative exhibits featuring the innovative artwork of locally, nationally and internationally recognized artists. “Oil and Water” is comprised of both oil and watercolor paintings from a local husband and wife team, Patricia Ritter and George McCracken.

The Sixth Mazin Annual Art Exhibition will be held at the Jewish Community Center, 3600 Dutchmans Lane from Dec. 6-Jan. 11, 2010.
The opening reception for the Mazin Annual Art Exhibition is open to the public and will be held on Dec. 6, 2009 from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. Prizes will be given out to the top three pieces. Artists’ work will be available for sale during the exhibit. This exhibit is free to the public.

In a couple of weeks the Speed Art Museum will close the largest exhibition it has ever hosted, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness: American Art from the Yale University Art Gallery. This must- see exhibition includes drawings, prints, photographs, furniture, silver, and ceramics from Yale University’s renowned collection of 18th- and 19th-century American fine and decorative arts including John Trumbull's painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and silver crafted by Paul Revere.
Kendal R. Miller of Photography by Kendal will be the featured artist at Signatures of Switzerland County during the Vevay Main Street Jan. 2 “Happy New Year” First Friday event.
Miller will show new works, including new local and area landscapes and nostalgic memorabilia. She will also demonstrate the art of hand-coloring photographs with pencils—now more often done by computer.
