Bring a brown bag lunch; drinks are provided. Pre-registation is required (812-944-7336). Louisville textile artist Bette Levy will discuss how artists use textiles in contemporary art. She will give examples of various textile techniques, showing her own work and that of other artists. Bette Levy has a Master of Arts in fiber arts from the University of Louisville. She practices what she calls "non-traditional embroidery art." Primarily a hand embroiderer, Levy's signature is the use of vividly-colored silk thread on black silk noil grounds.

In a couple of weeks the Speed Art Museum will close the largest exhibition it has ever hosted, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness: American Art from the Yale University Art Gallery. This must- see exhibition includes drawings, prints, photographs, furniture, silver, and ceramics from Yale University’s renowned collection of 18th- and 19th-century American fine and decorative arts including John Trumbull's painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and silver crafted by Paul Revere.
Kendal R. Miller of Photography by Kendal will be the featured artist at Signatures of Switzerland County during the Vevay Main Street Jan. 2 “Happy New Year” First Friday event.
Miller will show new works, including new local and area landscapes and nostalgic memorabilia. She will also demonstrate the art of hand-coloring photographs with pencils—now more often done by computer.
